A game ruined by an inept referee with two bogus sendings off. Tranmere took the lead before McDonald saw red as the Carlisle player took a heavy touch, McDonald who had been stationary five yards away from the loose ball, won it whilst 70% vertical but the players collided which looked like a clash of knees. After the initial haranguing of the official everyone left the area for the ref then to pull out a red which caused a mass melee on the touch line with most players involved, six yellow cards where brandished including both managers. The visitors equalised in the second half but Tranmere where playing well and had missed a couple of good chances before a good save by Murphy and a long ball sent Nevitt clear who restored the hosts lead. Apart from the substitutions their had been little time wasting evident although Murphy did take his time with a few kicks and Clarke tied his shoe laces a couple of times. 30 seconds were also lost when the crowd got hold of the ball and wouldn''t give it back but bizarely the ref added 6 minutes the same as the first half with all it''s issues. One minute in the ball was hit to the middle of the park and Morris raised his foot high to control but a Carlise player came from his blind side and put his head in where it hurts. Clearly he couldn''t see the player but Breakspear who has history with Tranmere decided to dish out a second red!! The nine men looked likely to hold out when in the 7th added minute a twenty yard shot from the blue birds hit the inside post and fell kindly to be headed home for the equaliser. Apparently 9 minutes extra had been played and the performance of the official left the vast majority of the home fans livid. Subsequently Tranmere failed in appealing both cards with the EFL doing it''s usual shocking cop out and increasing Morris''s ban by a game for a ''frivolous appeal'' what a bad smell. They should scrap this process and do their job instead of shirking away and insulting clubs and fans for genuine appeals(all should be assessed on their merits but you should not be punished further for being looked at)
