Another bright and sunny day (that''s 3 in a row now!!) and not too cold either for October. All trains spot on time (via Stafford and Nuneaton) and then a gentle walk to the ground via the old centre of Peterborough. It''s really nice (shock!). Mostly pedestrianised, lots of shops, cafes and restaurants and a stunning beautiful cathedral.
The London Road (Abax Stadium) ground is a little but away from the centre and it is rough apart from one spanking new stand at the far end (that you can''t see from the entrance super-scruffy entrance). I was in place a full hour early but the time passed quickly and soon the game was on.
Not a bad game actually and the standard of footy was mostly heaps better than what I''ve been seeing recently. There may not be much a gap between the National League and League Two but the next league up (League One) is a noticeable step change up. To be fair, these two teams are at the top of the league but, even so, they looked pretty good. And Stanley were better than Posh all over the park. They could have (and probably should have) won by a bigger margin but, that said, ''Borough'' hit the woodwork twice and had a clear penalty not given.
After the match a gentle stroll back to the station and both trains again spot on time. And, as for the last two matches, I watched a glorious sunset from the train.
Home by 21:30 and grinning contentedly. Excellent scarf btw.
