Oldham Athletic 0-2 Bristol Rovers Attendance: 4,394 (859) Rovers secured all three points at Oldham Athletic thanks to a 0-2 win. Charlie Colkett''s third goal of the season opened the scoring before Jake Clarke-Salter''s late header wrapped up a fantastic win. Darrell Clarke made five changes to the side that drew with MK Dons on Tuesday night recalling, James Clarke, Peter Hartley, Hiram Boateng, Charlie Colkett and Rory Gaffney to the starting 11. Rovers looked bright in the early going without ever really threatening Connor Ripley''s goal. The boys in yellow saw efforts from Rory Gaffney and and Chris Lines fail to hit the target whilst at the opposite end of the field Freddie Ladapo was causing the Rovers back line issues without really getting a shot off. After a superb pass Tuesday night it was Charlie Colkett who fired Rovers into a first half lead. Matty Taylor jumped highest at the near post to flick on a Chris Lines corner into the path of the Chelsea loanee. Colkett took a calm touch to control the ball before lashing it past Connor Ripley. Following the goal, Darrell Clarke''s side began to dominate possession as Hiram Boateng managed to hold off two Oldham players before sliding a neat ball into the path of Matty Taylor but the Rovers top goal scorer fired wide. Rovers continued to press for a second goal as Rory Gaffney found some space in behind the Lactics back line, the Irishman did well to find Charlie Colkett on the edge of the area but this time the Chelsea youngster curled his effort over the crossbar. Darrell Clarke''s side came out for the second half and were in control of the game with several positive spells on possession without testing Connor Ripley, efforts from Matty Taylor and Chris Lines failed to hit the target whilst at the other end of the field Lee Erwin forced a strong save from Kelle Roos with a lovely free kick. Just past the hour mark Rovers were forced into their first change of the evening as Jake Clarke-Salter took to the field replacing Peter Hartley who pulled up sharply whilst chasing a loose ball. As time went on the home side began to grow into the game as two efforts from Lee Erwin we saved superbly from Kelle Roos. With just under 20 minutes of the game remaining Darrell Clarke opted for a change of shape reverting to a traditional 4-4-2 formation as Cristian Montano and Byron Moore came on replacing Hiram Boateng and Charlie Colkett. Rovers were then able to hit Oldham on the counter attack as Byron Moore found Matty Taylor with a long ball up field, Taylor was able to get the better of Cameron Burgess before taking the ball around Connor Ripley but Peter Clarke was able to track back well and make the decisive challenge to prevent the goal. Darrell Clarke''s side looked good value to see out the game but put the final nail in the coffin with only a few minutes remaining as Chris Lines picked out Jake Clarke-Salter at the near post and the Chelsea loanee thundered his header past Ripley to wrap up the game. Up Next for Rovers is the visit of Peterborough United to the Memorial Stadium next Saturday. Oldham: Ripley: Dummigan, Clarke, Burgess, Reckord: Winchester (McLaughlin - 58), Fane, Green (Jahraldo-Martin - 83), Flynn: Erwin, Ladapo (Osei - 75) Unused Substitutes: Kettings (GK), Wilson, Banks, McKay. Rovers: Roos: J. Clarke, Lockyer (C), Hartley (Clarke-Salter - 64), Brown: Lines, Sinclair, Boateng (Moore - 73), Colkett (Montano - 73): Taylor, Gaffney.
