Substitute Max Kretzschmar scored a late winner to earn Wycombe all three points against Bristol Rovers.
The hosts played for an hour with 10 men after forward David Clarkson received a straight red for catching Josh Scowen with his arm.
Rovers keeper Steve Mildenhall did well to deny Jon-Paul Pittman from close range midway through the second half.
But he was caught out when he parried Pittman''s low drive into the path of Kretzschmar, who slotted home.
John Ward''s side are now winless in seven league games, while back-to-back victories have moved Wycombe up to seventh.
VIEW FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Bristol Rovers manager John Ward told BBC Radio Bristol:

I''m frustrated for the team and I''m frustrated for the supporters because they''ve really rallied together today, and not got something.
There was hard work off the field as well as on it from the people in the blue and white and the frustration is we''ve got nothing to show for that.
But I can''t grumble about the effort from anyone concerned, that the annoying thing, I don''t think we can try any harder.
We''ve got to pick ourselves up and go to Accrington on Tuesday and reward the guys that have supported us today.
Wycombe Wanderers manager Gareth Ainsworth told BBC Three Counties Radio:

We had to work extremely hard today for our win and I told the boys exactly what would happen at half time. I expected them to go out and get a 2 or 3-nil win.
I thought the subs energised us again, but the whole 18 were fantastic today.
It''s obviously great when it comes off and substitutes score, but there''s no credit. It''s down to everyone: Matt Ingram, Anthony Stewart for keeping clean sheets and Josh Scowen was outstanding in possession today.
I''ve always said I want to improve on last season and we''re clearly doing that. I''m not getting carried away at all.
You''d be a stupid, naïve man to think you''ve made something because you''re sitting in the top six of the table.
