Three second-half goals in the space of 10 minutes stunned Bristol Rovers and set Morecambe on course for a 3-0 win at the Memorial Stadium.
Gary McDonald broke the deadlock with a low finish on 52 minutes after Jordan Burrow had headed down a Kevin Ellison chip.
Nick Fenton doubled the lead with a right-footed volley from a narrow angle after 57 minutes and soon after Ellison waltzed through a wide open defence to slot home the third.
Rovers fans chanted what a load of rubbish as their team lacked a cutting edge and made costly errors.
Morecambe were unlucky not to go in front after 13 minutes when Andy Wright evaded a weak challenge 20 yards out and thumped a fine right-footed shot against a post with goalkeeper Sam Walker rooted to the spot.
Rovers passed the ball neatly at times without any penetration. Their best efforts came from distance, with Eliot Richards confident enough to let fly from 25 yards on several occasions.
