I went past the Bescot stadium on my way to the Hawthorns to see WBA v Everton (I was in the wrong lane so I missed the slip road) I decided that one day I would like to see a match there. This is that match. The Bescot is easily accessible from the M5 and there''s some good parking opposite in the station car park. A nice totally enclosed all seater stadium which holds around 11500. The Main Stand and the Family Stand, which run either side of the ground, and the away end, the Kia Stand, are single tiered stands of roughly the same height with red seating. The Main Stand (where I was sat) has a TV gantry on its roof and also houses corporate or hospitality boxes. The fourth stand is unusual as it towers over the three other stands. This is the 2 tiered Tile Choice stand which houses the home fans behind the goal. On the roof of the Main and the Family stands are 4 floodlights. The game itself was a odd one. Walsall were rampant in the first half and should really have finished 4 or 5 up rather than the 3-0 lead they had at the interval, with goals from Morris, Oztumer and Jackson.Bury on the other hand were being totally outplayed and were in disarray. Quite what the Bury gaffer said at half-time is anybodys guess but within 6 minutes of the restart Bury had clawed back 2 goals through Barnett and Vaughan. Walsall had capitulated and were as bad in the second half as they were good in the first. Bury however were dominant and the inevitable happened when Danny Mayor scored the equalizer on 66 minutes. All in all a great game for a neutral like me (despite the fact that all 6 goals were scored in the opposite end to where I was sat). The Bury fans must have been very happy on the journey home. Overall the Bescot is a nice ground, helpful staff, easily accessible and friendly fans. Just a shame that their current situation deters more fans from coming as its always sad to see empty seats. One nice touch-in the match programme the Walsall number 12 is listed as Walsall Fans. Like it. End os season 16/17- Walsall finished 14th on 58 points. Bury finished 19th on 50 meaning both teams will play in League One for another season.
