Dreadful opening game for Charlton in front of over 1,000 travelling fans. Apart from 10 minutes at the start of the second half Bury were the better team and deserved the win. Game descended into the usual mixture of protests and frustration at the end. Could have done without one of the Charlton centre-backs telling the fans not to bother coming if they don''t like what they see. Not sure he''ll have to worry too much about that with up to 2,000 fans not renewing their season tickets and away figures likely to drop significantly after this.

A typical first game of the season. Bury were by far the better team and took the chance to lead with a definite penalty for shirt pulling and the secnd eas given by the assistant referee after the ball appeared to cross the line after a header from a corner. Charlton never really threatened the Bury goal, a couple of crosses that went begging and that was it.
