A later start today, the 10.33 from E Croydon to Lewes. It's raining as a walk round town. Visit the gloomy church at the far end of town and pop into the Garden Inn on the way back for a quick half. Then in heavier rain I find the Elephant and Castle, also in the GBG, and have ham egg &chips with a pint of Gem, while watching Reading v QPR on TV. Back to the station to catch a train to Falmer only one stop on, and walk the short distance to the Amex stadium. Got prog £3.50 and entered the East stand upper tier for a good view in a great modern stadium, (£28 senior).
The early part of the game was slow and keep ball, with no action in front of goal. Things improved after the half hour with the first goal. Got chatting to my neighbour in the second half, and Brighton scored two more to wrap up the game. Long queue for the return train to Lewes getting the 17.22. Police and stewards did a good job of controlling the crowd. Had a half hour wait for the 17.50 back to E Croydon.
