Comments :
A tough start. Only back from Corfu for 3 days and very tired. But out of the house by 08:30 for first train from Crewe at 09:30. Bloomin' freezing on the platform at Crewe even in 3 layers of clothes. It was 23 degrees colder than Corfu. But three and a half hours later I was getting off the train in Havant in warm sunshine and shedding layers. A pleasant mile or so walk to the ground which is a non-league throw-back with a low perimeter of cattle sheds dotted with the odd seating area. But it was clean and well maintained and natives were mostly friendly. But the game was dire. The first half was probably the worst half of football I have seen for many a year and that Havant went in 1 up was a shock to all 1273 of us watching. Luckily though, the second half was great entertainment. Not any more skilful but wholly committed and furiously fast. Sutton really took the game to Havant and bossed it from the start. The equaliser took longer to come than anybody could believe and the winner that followed was a near inevitability. That it ended there was the next big shock of the day. The journey back was l-o-n-g as my energy levels dwindled. But on the train from Euston who should pop into the carriage by Johhny Vegas. What a nice man. Really pleasant and friendly. I got a selfie. But I was still very very glad to get home, get to bed and dream dreams of adventure.
