First ''proper'' match for me at Prenton Park - I had been there in May ''84 for an end of season testimonial for Ray Mathias (v Everton).   Tranmere had to beat Exeter to stay in the League - which they did thanks to  a Gary Williams goal.

A couple of years after my first Tranmere home game chose to put this game in on two fronts, the first to fill in a gap in the Tranmere home progs section and the second for historical reasons as we had to win this game to guarentee league saftey, the attendence was touted as being our highest home attendence for ten years
