| FOREST GREEN blew away the cobwebs of inactivity in a six-goal thriller at Bath City today.
First half goals from Adam Quinn, Luke Jones and Reece Styche and a second half strike from Ross Dyer - his first for Forest Green, handed Rovers only their second away victory of the season and stretch their unbeaten league record to six.
In their first league outing since November 27, boss David Hockaday used the enforced winter break to snap up former Watford midfielder Kieron Forbes from Ryman Premier League club Wealdstone, he also included ex-Salisbury midfielder Bradley Gray for the first time.
Rovers roared in to action and nosed ahead on three minutes. Gray's fee-kick saw Adam Quinn head the ball beyond Carl Pentney in the home goal.
Nonetheless, City found parity on 26 minutes. Gavin Caines pulled down Kaid Mohamed and the former Forest Green striker beat Bittner from the spot.
The goal tide continued. A carbon copy set play from Rovers' early opener saw Gray pick out Captain Luke Jones, who headed home eight minutes before the break. Rovers made it 3-1 seconds before the break as that man Gray released Styche, who impishly lobbed Pentey from the edge of the box for his tenth goal of the season.
Forbes replaced Styche on 64 minutes as Rovers looked to blunt City's attacking intent. However, City upped the tempo and grabbed a lifeline four minutes later.
Mohamed picked out Lee Phillips, who lashed home from inside the six-yard box. Rovers' nerves were calmed when Forbes picked out Dyer to fizz in the fourth on 77 minutes.
City's Luke Ruddick saw red in added time for a rash challenge on Forbes.
