Comments :
Slotted this match into a busy tour of East Sussex and Kent and it was pretty much the low spot. The ground looks okay from the outside being set in a huge multi sport complex on the edge of town but inside it is disjointed and scruffy like every individual piece has been snapped up on e-bay and stuck on there. That said, it has the loudest and best sound quality Tannoy system I have ever heard outside of the top leagues. But that was where the quality began and ended. The match was quite frankly dire even for this level. Big strong aggressive blokes seems to be the norm nowadays for the lower leagues irrespective of whether they have any footballing skills or not and this was the case here. The tactics also appeared devoid of finesse. Yes they all put in a lot of effort and the healthy crowd seemed engaged but it was horrible to watch for the neutral football fan. It was chilly too and spitting with rain and we had an hour to drive to Rye (and the secret windmill) before it got dark so soon after half time I cut my losses and made a break for it. Not great but another one ticked off and, anyway, who cares? Sussex and Kent were magical.
