Comments :
This was my 87th current league ground. I parked at the Park and Ride for £3, the ground being a well-signposted 5-10 minute walk away. The ground is well structured with seats on the Main Stand raked at a steepish angle affording good views of the action. The stadium was not signposted at all from the city centre., which was disappointing, and problematic. The game began with a well-worked goal on the break by the visitors in the 2nd minute. By the 14th minute Colchester were level and by the 20th minute they were ahead 2-1, and deservedly so. Both were scored by Harry Anderson who seemed to be a fans'' favourite. He completed his hat-trick before half-time. It was the first time I''d ever seen a first-half hat-trick in my 60 years of watching lots of football. Colchester were impressive on the ball, and seemed to have several good footballers in their team, most notable Payne, Read, and Mbick as well as Anderson.  Mbick is a well-built 6ft 3 centre-forward who has a surprisingly good first touch for such a tall man. He was calm and composed in possession and passed the ball well, often choosing the right option rather than the first, or the easiest, option. He was also unselfish. If he lacked anything it was athleticism. He didn''t run around much. Add that to his game and he can play at least two divisions higher than this. Harrogate started very well but faded, and even when they had spells of majority possession in the 2nd half they didn''t pose much attacking threat. Colchester created a lot of chances and might easily have scored six or seven times. Fun Fact: A Family Affair. The Home side had the Cowley brothers (Danny and Nicky) in the dug-out as Manager and Assistant, while Harrogate''s manager, Simon Weaver, is the son of their Chairman Irving Weaver !!
