Match no. 1419. A great day at Broadhall Way as Stevenage clinched promotion to League One with a game to spare. Borough went into the game knowing that a win would guarantee automatic promotion. After having a goal disallowed in the 2nd minute, Stevenage had to survive a flurry of Grimsby corners before asserting control. However, it was still 0-0 at half-time and with Stockport winning at Leyton Orient, Borough would only be 2 points clear of them with a game to go. But two second half goals from Jamie Reid and Luther Wildin ensured a comfortable win in the end amid much rejoicing. And with Northampton losing at home to Bradford City, Borough were elevated into second place. This was my 210th game at Broadhall Way putting it clear in 2nd place on my list of grounds visited. Strangely, this was only the third time I''ve been to a game on 29th April and the first for 45 years: Match no. 426 - West Ham 0-2 Liverpool - 29.4.1978.
