Flew back to Manchester from Tenerife last night and drove down to Lymington with Charlie (driving), Sue (front seat) and Chloe and Issy and me in the back seat. An hour at Miranda and Dave''s cottage and then Jack drove Charlie (with Issy feeding) and me to the stadium for a 16:45 start. Traffic was horrible so we didn''t get there until nearly 17:30 but straight in with a welcome glass of prosecco and then into the Guinness and red wine. Just like the old days.
We were sharing a table with 10 middle-aged guys who are regulars and great fun. Lots of banter and laughter - helped in no small degree by Charlie being a very attractive young lady who know football.
Our seats weren''t that great - being in the corner - but the atmosphere in what is a very small stadium was good and the standard of football obviously far better than a lot of what I''ve been seeing of late. And the home team won which is always good news.
Then it was more drinks, more laughs and a taxi back to Lymington.
An excellent night and well worth the effort.
