Well it only took me thirty years but i can finally say i''ve seen the current 42 play a home game! You could argue that i haven''t seen Edinburgh city play at Spartans although i did see them play at meadowbank and i am counting Queen''s park at Hampden not their temporary home sharing with Partick Thistle. I will look forward to seeing them at Lesser Hampden once they move in and maybe Spartens play someday(have visited their ground on a non match day). I have to thank everyone at Bayview for going out of their way to make my day special particularly Allan who not only gave me a shout but let me write a three page article for the programme and initially sorted me with hospitality only for Covid restrictions to scupper that at the eleventh hour. The nine hour round trip was well worth it, the game was entertaining, a typical game of two halves with the hosts the better going into the break creating two excellent chances. Montrose were better second half and scored twice from close range Lyons claimed the first from two yards although a defender may have had the last touch from a fierce low cross, his second two minutes later was more clear cut coming from a corner scramble finished from six yards. Both sides hit the woodwork the hosts was turned on to the post by the keeper. Shortly after any hopes of a consolation ended with a mysterious sending off which later transpired to be for foul and abusive language aimed at the referee.
