Comments :
With the Covid level rising i stayed closer to home with the added incentive that visitors Radcliffe had just signed a third ex tranmere player Neil Danns during the week but he must have had a clause put in his contract to enable him to watch the Merseyside derby instead of playing! However as well as Akpa Akpro and Larnell Cole for the visitors the hosts started with Jack MacKreth and Mitch Duggan in the starting line up with Jack Dunn on the bench with Paul Carden the manager. It was the proverbial game of two halves with Warrington taking a fortunate lead from the penalty spot after a harsh award under the new ball to hand rules and Dixon rifled a powerful shot home. Shortly afterwards the wire had the ball in the net three times in three minutes but only one would count as the first was ruled out for a foul on the keeper as it was lobbed home from the edge of the box, the next attack saw the keeper half clear a shot but again the ball was lobbed home from twenty yards and a third effort moments later was ruled out for offside. Radcliffe came out stronger in the second half and would go on to hit the woodwork twice before Akpa Akpro would slot home a consolation. You would not have ruled against the visitors snatching a point although Warrington had their moments and hung on for the win
