Left at 11:00 with Charlie and walked to Chester station to get the 11:35 train to Crewe. Changed at Crewe for Manchester Piccadilly getting there at about 12:45. Walked to St Peter's Square tram stop and then got the tram out to Newton Heath and Moston. Walked to the ground which took about 15 mins to get there and arrived at about 14:00. Very nice ground that would not look out of place in the football league at all. The club itself is an interesting one in the sense that it is essentially 100% for the fans with no sponsorship and all the money the club has is from donations and gate receipts. It is very much my kind of football club. Went and stood on the big terrace behind the goal. The game itself was a good one. The 1st half was quite open with Stockport having two chances early on which they should've taken. After about 10 mins, United took the lead through some good play up top from their striker who curled it into the bottom corner to give them the lead. The game continued to be open for the remainder of the 1st half with both sides, again, having chances and providing an entertaining game. Stockport equalised on the stroke of HT after a header from a corner was saved superbly by the United goalkeeper only for a looping cross/shot went into the back of the net to make it 1-1 at HT. The 2nd half was a much more one sided affair in Stockport's favour with United on the back-foot for the majority of the half. Stockport played some lovely pass and move football and had chances to take the lead before they eventually took it in the last minute in front of their fans which sparked a pitch invasion. United didn't look proactive enough in the 2nd half and were just waiting to hit Stockport on the counter for most of the game. Stockport deserved the 3 points and look like a side that could get promoted come the end of the season. Walked back to the metro with Charlie and got the 17:55 train from Manchester Piccadilly changing at Crewe getting back at about 19:30.
