Tranmere visits 3 PLD 3 W0 D2 L1 GF1 GA 3. Frustrating game bright opening ten minutes from rovers with york then having a similar period but then the game got ugly. Both sides made plenty of indescetions but the officials only penalised a fraction of the home sides. For rovers McNulty got lucky when he appeared to flatten a york striker off the ball in the box which could have resulted in a soft penalty and steve jennings allowed his frustrations to boil over twice in quick succesion pushing a york winger in the back in a manner akin of revenge as it was so blatent but only one free kick was given. Early in the second half hughes was sent off for lunging with his studs showing but when a york player went down their was little sympathy in the away end as it was felt it was all part of their tactics hiwever the player did get stretchered off. With six minutes of added time rovers had played around 40 minutes a man down but gave as good as they got and came closest to a winner when a Norwood flick skimmed the crossbar. For me it was summed up by the eagle eyed linesman who spotted so many of rovers alledged discretions but missed a york defender pulling Cook back by the neck on the edge of the box when well placed. One yellow card for York to four for Rovers plus a red didn''t cut it in this evenly contested boxing match.
