Wolves elected to play 8 midfielders against lowly Cambridge United. Coady at right back was not a surprise and George Saville had filled in at left back against Rotherham but with no recognised striker it was Costa and Wallace who played furthest forward.
After 6 minutes Wolves went ahead: good work on the left by price and Saville set up Wallace to cross for an unmarked Costa to score his first goal in Gold & Black. Six minutes later Wanderers doubled their lead when a weak shot from Wallace was fumbled into the net by goalkeeper Norris. Two minutes later Cambridge hit back: Hause and Iorfa got themselves in an awful mess and Elito shot home. United continued to trouble Wolves in the air but the half time came with no further scoring. the opening attack of the second half saw Costa burst into the penalty box where he was hacked down: penalty and yellow card - eventually for the correct defender: Adams. Norris redeemed himself diving low to his left to save Henry''s spot kick. Wolves had the better of the possession with Price outstanding but Berry was almost as impressive for Cambridge and a late header should have taken the tie to extra time but Williamson (I think) steered it wide.
