Hiddink's first game in charge, with Lampard setting up Anelka wonderfully. I attended with Mike Hargraves, a Chelsea friend from university, having stayed at his house near Ely the night before. His dad and his friends were also in attendance - middle aged mods. The Cap and Gown was a very accommodating away pub - despite the amount Mike and I had had on a night out the night before, we had one or two there before entering the stand at Villa Park, which I thought was a very decent venue. The game itself wasn't particularly memorable, but the atmosphere was as I was part of the best Chelsea support I'd been part of yet - a chant of Matthew Harding's Blue and White Army continued for what must have been ten minutes in the second half. A kid was caught by the police for flicking the Vs at us while leaving early, and we ended the game cheering 'Chelsea are back!' The best part was that I was home by tea.
