Comments :
Bromsgrove Sporting suffered the heartache of a penalty shoot-out defeat at the hands of Premier Division Highgate United at Aggborough Stadium, in the final of the Worcestershire Senior Urn. The first half was a cagey affair with Bromsgrove having the best of it, but Highgate took the lead in the 38th. minute when Lei Brown pouced after a defensive mix up in the Sporting six yard box. Bromsgrove were forced into taking the game to Highgate in the second half, which to a large extent they did, with Highgate trying to hit Bromsgrove on the break. But with 2 minutes remaining young substitute Alfie Bloomer perfectly lobbed Brendon Bunn in the United goal to take the final to a penalty shoot-out. The shoot-out ebbed and flowed, but it was Highgate that sealed the victory when defender James Loney beat Jonathan Brown to take the penalty shoot-out 5-4. An enjoyable night only spoiled by the ridiculous behaviour of many Highgate players who seemed to resent that Bromsgrove supporters made up 90% of the crowd.
