TOTAL VISITS 2 TRANMERE VISITS PLD 2 W1 D0 L1 GF4 GA4. It seemed the Gods were conspiring against me for this one, after the first game was postponed ten days prior, the new date only gave me a weeks notice whilst my boss'' insite on a minimum months notice for time off it looked a lost cause. As luck would have it i had the morning booked off for a trip to the dentist and i managed to get my afternoon work completed early so with a few phone calls got the all clear to go. Second problem was i''d already got my refund for the coach which was scheduled to leave at 13.15 and it was unclear if their were any spaces left as it turned out their were a couple but not many...Over half way there and reports of heavy rain brought forth fears of another cancelation and whilst we were aware of roadworks around Woking town centre we were still on course to arrive just over an hour before kick off until we hit them and moved half a mile in an hour propting a mass exodus of the coach and a walk of just over a mile to the ground, i got in with five minutes to spare whilst those who had to stay with the coach were not so fortunate getting in half an hour after kick off. Was it worth it? I''d say so, it poored down for the whole game and once again their was no segregation so as with last year i watched the first half from the large seated stand behind the goal before feasting on sausage and chips at half time. I felt the first half was even with both defences looking shakey and a few half chances created for both sides it ended in a stalemate at 0-0. Second half i stood on the open side terrace getting wet with the drizzle but got to throw the ball back to Vaughan at one point, the game changed with the first goal scored by Cook after being set up by Wallace he seemed to scuff his shot into the far corner. If this appeared slightly scruffy the second a few minutes later from Tollitt looked anything but turning the defenders before curling a low shot into the same corner of the net. Last year Norwood scored Tranmeres goal of the season here in a 1-4 defeat with a mazy run from inside his own half and Tollitts second aimed to replicate this as he picked the ball up in the middle of his own half and ran and ran and out ran the home defenders over a 60 yard sprint before once again firing low into the same corner job done. The trip home should have been a happy one but the lad sitting next to me was all arms and legs and when he dropped off tried his best to sleep on my lap! Whilst the coach arrived back at around 02.15am after i''d dropped a mate off i got to bed at 03.30 for all of three hours kip before my 06.30 alarm. Self inflicted it may have been but this is proper footy as i wouldn''t have swapped it with my other armchair mates watching Liverpool v Chelsea on sky not a chance!
