The tensest match ever. With Burnley's record of playing in every season at risk, with the possibility of closure, the atmosphere was almost unbearable. Good wishes came to the club from all over the country. Bolton sent a telegram. All it said was  "Don't leave us now" The day was soured for some by the attitude of some Blackburn Rovers staff and a story that numbers of Blackburn fans intended to come to 'see us off'. Some of my friends did not attend as they feared serious trouble. In the event this did not happen. A vivid memory was of two large groups of fans, Sunderland and Newcastle in their colours on the Beehole end. When it was over, two Norwich lads behind us said we would be promoted next season. sadly wrong, but at least we survived.
