Comments :
A rainy night, a blinding goal. At 1-1, with West Ham under mounting pressure, Bobby Moore controlled the ball on his chest in his own penalty area, looked up and hit an inch-perfect lofted pass to Clyde Best in a bit of space near the half-way line. Best turned on it, beat a defender, ran on and avoided a John Hurst slide tackle by means of a very casual drag-back, then ran on further for a 1 to 1 against the keeper. As nonchalant as you like he waited for keeper to commit himself then walked the ball round him and rolled the ball into the empty net. After a moment''s stunned silence, the home crowd stood to a man to salute an exceptional goal. Being a very modest chap, Best trotted back without any goal celebration for the restart. This remains the best individual goal I have ever seen in a match that I have attended. What a pity no-one filmed it!
