Reds hit back to earn a replay! By David Gill A full-bloodied and hard fought FA Cup tie under the gaze of the ESPN cameras saw the Reds come back from 2-0 down to end up all square with the Lions Wembley had in their line-up former Aston Villa & England centre-back Ugo Ehiogu and Argentinian star Claudio Caniggia, and it was certainly a pleasure to have two former greats out there this afternoon on our hallowed turf. We pressed Wembley hard in the early stages, with Rob Fitzgerald just beaten to the ball by ex-Barnet keeper Lee Pearce following skipper Wayne Carter''s delivery on the left. Caniggio was offered half a chance at the other end but couldn''t lift his lob high enough to trouble John Peacock. Again Fitzgerald was getting into the Lions box, but Ehiogu showed he hasn''t lost any of his alertness at the back with a telling intervention. Our clearest opening of the half fell to Matty Woods, whose glancing header was well saved by Pearce low down to his left, after great work by Stu Farrell on the left with a hooked cross! Then we found ourselves a goal behind on 26 minutes. Lions striker Paul SHELTON got the rub of the green from a ricochet in the box and he went onto take the ball round Peacock and score past two Reds defenders on the goal-line! Kev Warner drilled in a shot that so nearly found the corner, but three minutes before the turnround the Lions pounced again on a bit of fortune! Sub Jumo Mitchell had an outrageous swing at the ball and it fell kindly at the feet of Daryl ATKINS and his finish into the top left-hand corner of the net was prolific. Atkins tested Peacock early on in the second period with a dipping shot that was well turned over. We found it difficult to find our back into the game for a time, however with the introduction of young players Nicke Kabamba and Andrew Capewell it seemed to give some more aerial power and creativity in the midfield, as the tie seemed to change direction with a more positive approach from everyone. WARNER stepped up on 68 minutes to flight home a sweetly struck free-kick out of Pearce''s reach to halve the deficit. Then in our very next attack we delivered an excellent equaliser for the fans, as Capewell weighted his pass perfectly for MOORE to coolly slot home past Pearce''s right-hand. Moore went on to put a couple of good opportunities over the top, but the miss of the day must belong to Atkins, who got underneath his shot from eight yards and put the ball into the car park. Ehiogu headed over as the game reached its last knockings and Pearce thwarted Moore at the death as we looked for a late winner. Att:754. MoM:Chris Moore. Team:Peacock, M.Howell, Warner, Fitzgerald, Farrell, Carter(c), Julienne, Smith, Woods, Moore, Lucien. Subs:Capewell(for Smith 66 mins), Jenkins, Kabamba(for Lucien 54 mins), Lema(for Woods 80 mins).
