Comments :
Went to this game on my own on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Made my way to Stanway after watching the Chelsea vs Spurs match at Pagey''s. Got to the ground in just under 30 mins and went in just as the match was kicking off. Game was fairly decent, Stanway took the lead with a very good goal, Newson (brother of the Needham striker) was the class player on the pitch, after beating 2 he squared the ball for his fellow striker to tap in. Stanway looked dangerous every time they attacked, however Ely gradually came in to the game more and scored a scrappy goal to bring it back to level pegging. It stayed 1-1 until half time and Ely stated the 2nd half as they ended the 1st. 2 quick goals helped by some long throwing aerial bombardment and less than great defending and Ely were 1-3 up and in control. Stanway then came back into the game and squandered 3 really good chances to get a goal back and put real pressure on Ely as the game came towards its conclusion. So it finished 1-3 and was an enjoyable match. The ground was ok, basic but adequate, hidden away behind a residential estate.
