Still stationed in the far reaches of the North east this was a daunting trip especially as i''d been to a celebration evening with work so i had booked myself onto the coach leaving Tranmere around 7am but still found myself leaving Alnwick after midnight, i did start to nod of at one point so called in at a services on the M6 to kip in the car for a bit. Least said about the match the better we got battered i remember it was uncovered terrace behind the goal which was split to be shared with the home fans. The journey back to merseyside probably took four and half hours then back into the car for another three and a bit hour drive back to base and that was my weekend done
