This was my first ever football match as a 6 year old. I'd become interested in Sunderland because of my uncle and my cousin's support of them and due to my parents not caring about football! I went to this match with my eldest brother Chris who nowadays doesn't care about sport, my elder brother Tim who still supports Sunderland to this day and my Mum who takes a passing interest in Sunderland and my greatest passion Gloucester Rugby. My memories of the game aren't a lot. I do remember before the game hearing Lightning Seeds 'Sugar Coated Iceberg' which still reminds me of that day even now. I remember we sat right at the front and there were loads of blown up clapper things everywhere!! My only real memory of the football is Mark Bosnich swinging on the crossbar after the ball went over the bar!! One regret of mine is that this was the last season Sunderland played at Roker Park and only being 6 and not understanding Sunderland's history, and living in Cheltenham, meant that I never got to see a match there. I did see it from the outside but I never got to go in.
