Blimey - what a journey. Punctured tyres, heavy traffic, un-findable parking spaces and M1 road closures. But despite all that we (Mick and me) made it there and back somehow. The stadium? - very nice I suppose - had that bright shiny ''new car'' smell/feel to it, plus great facilities and all that. But it lacks the soul and atmosphere of Griffin Park. The Oldham fans were magnificent - singing their hearts out despite getting thrashed. The football was men v boys in the first half (5 0 at HT - could have been 10). Bit better in second half, when Oldham showed far more grit. 7 goals in total, the first a penalty, the last an overhead cycle kick + 5 more in between, including a couple of belters and an unfortunate own goal. It was premier league v 92nd/foot of League 2 and the gap in class was huge - so no shame on Oldham. At least their fans sang - the Bees fans were pretty quiet except for when they scored. Good night out, lovely stadium, but a bit too gentrified and corporate for me. I much preferred Griffin Park - but that''s because I''m a dinosaur from the land that time forgot.
