Match no. 1467. Stevenage clinched a place in the promotion play-offs with this hard-fought win. They went into the game knowing that a win would guarantee them 6th place but that anything less would leave them vulnerable to being overtaken by Luton and/or Plymouth. In the event Wigan provided tenacious opposition and when Argyle went 3-2 ahead at Northampton it was apparent that only a win would be good enough. Amidst growing frustration the winner eventually came on 90+2 minutes when Dan Sweeney bundled the ball over the line (just) following a corner to much rejoicing. Stevenage will now face Stockport in the play-off semi-final. 60 years ago this weekend: Match no. 17 - West Ham 3-2 Manchester United - 30.4.1966.
