Good ground with good atmosphere. Home fans loud, away fans louder. I was in the away end where singing started at kick-off and continued unbroken (apart from the half-time interval) right up to the final whistle. Amazing effort by these extraordinary fans. Miserable cold January night: midweek fixture, with a 430 mile round-trip to complete, yet Pompey fans filled their end. Poor first half. Lincoln''s passing not great, but they pressed Pompey well. Pompey just about deserved their 1-0 half-time lead. Second half much better with Pompey controlling the game and creating a few decent chances. Lincoln had one decent chance in the whole match and that came from a freak bounce of the ball in the box setting it up. Their keeper played well. Best player for Lincoln was midfielder Morrell, and the West Ham loanee, Conor Coventry, was very tidy on the ball. Burgess absolutely outstanding again for Pompey. Never put a foot wrong even though he was being constantly fouled by Arsenal loanee Tyreece John-Jules. Raggett was again wobbly, against his old club. Naylor was poor often losing possession and Close was quiet. Cannon the best in the midfield. Marquis hopeless up front, terrible first touch. Curtis always looked dangerous but didn''t get great service. Went in the Ritz for a pre-match pint, large Wetherspoons on the way to the ground from the city centre. It was for home fans only so I posed as one, as I''d agreed to meet someone there. This was Pompey''s 7th consecutive win in all competitions, including wins to reach the FA Cup 5th round and EFL Trophy semi-final.
