Tranmere Rovers | 8 Mar 1912 | Current | The club was a founder member of the Football League Division 3 [N] in 1921. Robert Bell of Tranmere Rovers scored the first ever Football League treble hat-trick here (and missed a penalty!) in the 13-4 win against Oldham Athletic on December 26th, 1935. The club was also involved in Football League Play Off Matches at the neutral venue of Wembley Stadium. *NB. A gate of only 843 was recorded for the fixture v. Hartlepool United (0-0) on December 19th, 1986, but this was abandoned after 27 minutes due to a floodlighting failure. |
