Preston North End | 4 Oct 1878 | Current | The club was a founder member of the Football League in 1888. Deepdale has been in continuous use by Preston North End ever since then and, not surprisingly, currently holds the record for hosting the most number of Football League matches. The first ever Football League goal was scored here by Jack Gordon of Preston North End in the match v. Burnley on September 8th and the 10-0 win v. Stoke on September 14th, 1889 was the first double-figure score in Football League history. The club was also involved in a Test Match at the neutral venue of the Olive Grove and Football League Play Off Matches at the neutral venues of Wembley Stadium and the Millennium Stadium. |
