Although no map exists, an accurate diagram of the ground can be constructed from contemporary accounts. Located on a site south of the town centre, the main seated stand was on the north side of the 114 x 75 yards sized pitch with a smaller 300 seater stand, removed from the previous ground at Clee Park, on the east.
Standing accommodation was supplied by an 800 capacity stand at the east end, a raised bank on the south side and duckboards dispersed around the perimeter. Dressing rooms were provided in the south east corner of the ground.
Abbey Park opened on August 30th, 1889 with a friendly match against West Bromwich Albion, which Grimsby Town won 6-1, and was vacated in 1899. A housing development was later constructed on the site.
