Team From To Notes
Derby County 1 Aug 1884 31 May 1895 The club was a founder member of the Football League in 1888. Although it occupied a large area, the facilities for spectators were very poor and it became obvious that a new venue would be required. In 1892 Derby County FC played two matches at The Baseball Ground when race meetings took precedence at the ground and moved there permanently in 1895. The club was also involved in a Test Match at the neutral venue of Filbert Street.

GROUND HISTORY adapted from "The Ultimate Directory of English & Scottish Football League Grounds"
Although no map exists, from contemporary accounts the pitch, which Derby County FC used from their formation in 1884, was sited at the west end of the County Cricket Ground which occupied the southern half of Derby Racecourse. This arrangement was far from ideal as all the main facilities, which included a large grandstand and three areas of covered and open seating, were some 300 yards away on the east side of the Racecourse, whilst around the pitch there was no banking or covered accommodation.

Despite these drawbacks it was utilized for an FA Cup Final replay and Semi-Finals with a record crowd of over 15,000 present for the FA Cup Semi-Final between Blackburn Rovers and Swifts (2-1) on March 13th, 1886.
Derby County moved to The Baseball Ground in 1894 and the County Cricket Ground is still in use by Derbyshire CCC.
