GROUND HISTORY adapted from "The Ultimate Directory of English & Scottish Football League Grounds"

The New York Stadium, named after the local area was opened in 2012. Built a few hundred yards east of Millmoor, the new ground is situated on the site of the old Guest and Chimes foundry next to the River Don. The whole site had to be raised by at least 6 feet to prevent possible flooding.

It's a single-tier wrap-around design with 12,500 seats. The main stand houses all the usual offices, boxes, hospitality suites and the dressing rooms, plus 3,500 seats. The other three stands house 3,000 seats and the whole design of the ground is very impressive, with the stepped roof of the end stands enabling them to neatly link the Main Stand roof to the lower river side being the main feature.

Food & drink
The Bluecoat pub at The Crofts are three hundred yards away from the station having visited before I knew that this is one of the better Wetherspoons where the staff seems to be fairly well clued up. Surprise, surprise, the Real Ale was served at a more ambient temperature and in decent condition, therefore much more acceptable.
