The club moved here from Fulfordgate in 1932 and was also involved in a Football League Play Off Match at the neutral venue of Wembley Stadium. Post war improvements saw concreting of the terraces and an extension to the main stand before seating was installed on the west side in 1974. Further alterations in the 1990s, erection of a cover over the north end and further extensions to the main stand (including the provision of cover over the main stand paddock) by the end of the 2002/3 season gave the ground a capacity of 9,034 with 3,509 seats. The pitch size was 115 x 75 yards. The lease on the ground expired in 2003 but the club was allowed to remain at Bootham Crescent rent-free for 2003/4 season until the tenancy was secured. In 2005 the ground was re-named as KitKat Crescent in a 2-year sponsorship deal

From the A1 take the A64 to York. When you near York, join the A1237 Ring Road and continue on through three roundabouts it until you reach the junction with the A19. There take the second exit and take the A19 towards York City Centre and keep going until you get to the Burton Stone Inn, at which point you turn left into Burton Stone Lane. Then take the first right into Grosvenor Road for the ground.
North
From the A1 take junction 47, take the A59 exit to York/ Knaresborough/ Harrogate Airport then take the first exit onto the A59, drive for about ten mile till Upper Poppleton roundabout there take the first exit then at the second roundabout take the second exit onto the A19 towards York City Centre and keep going until you get to the Burton Stone Inn, at which point you turn left into Burton Stone Lane. Then take the first right into Grosvenor Road for the ground. If you arrive early enough then there is street parking to be found in a number of side road off Burton Stone Lane. Otherwise pay and display car park in the city centre and walk back out to the ground.

- Leave the station and turn left. At the traffic lights turn left into Station Rise. After the Royal Mail HQ turn right into an alley. The railway is now on your left, follow the footpath down the alleyway, over the foot/rail bridge crossing the river and through the car park all with the railway still on your left. Now go under the railway and turn right immediately.
You are now in Bootham Terrace with large terraced houses on your left and the railway on your right. At the top of this slight hill, you come to a T-junction with Bootham (the A19), Turn left, walk about 100 yards and cross the zebra crossing. Bootham Crescent is straight ahead.
