GROUND HISTORY adapted from "The Ultimate Directory of English & Scottish Football League Grounds"
The home ground of Darwen CC, the football pitch was laid out at the north west end and the sparse spectator facilities included a covered stand, seating 1,200, and raised banking on the west side. A temporary stand was erected on the east side, for use during the football season, and dressing tents installed at the south east end of the pitch.

The record attendance of 14,000 was set at a friendly match v. Blackburn Rovers on March 18th, 1882 and, following the end of their Football League career, in 1899, Darwen FC moved to the Anchor Ground, taking the main stand with them. Barley Bank was subsequently utilized for housing.
