Also known as the West Herts. Sports Ground the venue was utilized for cricket and athletics as well as accommodating a  football pitch on the west side of the site. By the time that Watford FC joined the Football League in 1920 two sides had been well developed with a pavilion and covered standing areas on the west side and a covered enclosure at the north end with wooden duckboards being provided around the other two sides. Watford FC vacated the venue, which is still in use as a sports ground, in 1922 and moved to Vicarage Road.
