GROUND HISTORY adapted from "The Ultimate Directory of English & Scottish Football League Grounds"

Although no map exists, some idea of the ground may be gleaned from contemporary accounts. On the north side was a 150ft long covered stand with press facilities and seats for 1,000 spectators with a standing area in front. Opposite to this was a 360ft banked area stretching the length of the pitch, with six tiers and a flat area on the top of the bank for additional viewing, whilst there was another section of banking at the west end with a few rows of open seating. The map on the Home Teams page is based on this information with the location of the site being approximately fixed from photographs taken during the 1890s.

The ground has a place in the history of Association Football, hosting the first match to utilize cross bars and goal nets during a representative game between the North and the South in 1891. Nottingham Forest vacated in 1898 and the whole area was subsequently used for housing.
