I had my first visit to St James Park with a mate from who supported Sheff Utd but was from Barnsley which i think ended 1-1 with future Rovers srar Dave Kelly scoring for Newcastle. I had been in the away terracing then and remember the steps at the front being well below pitch level. As for this game it was Rovers first visit here in my lifetime the only previous visit being way back in 1938. It was a buzz and a great result with Aldridge and Morrissey scoring for rovers in an entertaining game. We would beat them three times this season, i missed the classic 6-6 Zenith data game due to work(ironically 30 miles north of Newcastle but managed to catch it on tv as sky broadcast it live). I did make the return league game and another entertaining game and victory for rovers
