Following crowd trouble at Stockport's game against Sheffield Wednesday on 2nd April, the League shut Edgeley Park for this game prompting the switch to Old Trafford. With Stockport already relegated and fans disgruntled at the League's decision, only 13 people paid to watch the game. This is a little misleading because the game kicked off at 6.30pm, a little while after Man U had finished playing Derby and between one and two thousand fans stayed behind to watch this match for free. (This is one of only 2 times that 2 League games have been played at the same ground on the same day - the other was on 23rd August 1986 at Hartlepool's Victoria Ground.)
