Match no. 1448: Stevenage were very fortunate to get through to the 2nd round against opponents 4 divisions and 87 places below them. Borough never imposed themselves on the game, even after they took the lead on 53 minutes. allowing Guiseley to deservedly equalise with 7 minutes of the 90 to go. Due to the ridiculous decision by the FA / EFL to scrap all replays in the first and second rounds, the game went to extra-time. But Borough''s display had been so poor that I had no enthusiasm for another 30 minutes and made the very rare decision to leave early. In the event, the game went to penalties which Stevenage won 5-4. This was the first time I''d been to a game on 2nd November for 39 years: Match no. 596 - West Ham 2-1 Everton - 2.11.1985.
