Francis Lee missed a penalty in the first half when Ron Davies stopped a Jeff Astle header with his hand. Astle then knocked the ball home for what would have been a debut goal but the referee had already pointed to the spot.

Match no. 110. Wales led 1-0 at half-time through a header by the great Ron Davies. England won it with second half goals from Francis Lee and Bobby Charlton. There was a great atmosphere in the stadium, the post-1966 euphoria was still evident.
