Match no. 88. The lower tier of the new East Stand, which was a standing terrace, opened for the first time. QPR took the lead but West Ham equalised when Bobby Moore strode forward out of defence and unleashed a dipping 25-yarder into the roof of the net at the North Bank end. Peters and Hurst put Hammers 3-1 up at half-time only for two Mick Leach goals to bring QPR level on 67 minutes. But one minute later Harry Redknapp scored the winner with a terrific volley.
