Strange night. Coppers everywhere trying to keep fans segregated. Mick & me bumped into Forest ST holder Mike + his mate Matt (who Mick already knew) both from Chesterfield. But all 4 of us were supporting Mansfield for the night. The coppers thought we were Chesterfield fans and challenged us on route. We had to explain we were supporting Mansfield but they didn''t look convinced. Then we went through the correct turnstiles according to the tickets, but Mick & me couldn''t get to our seats - physically impossible from that turnstile. The jobs worth stewards said they couldn''t do anything about it and we''d just have to sit somewhere else instead! The match was pretty odd too - lots of chances for both teams but rubbish finishing. Then with 18 mins to go the Mansfield keeper comes out for a ball but misses it completely and clatters his own defender. Chesterfield score an easy tap in winning goal from the mistake and the poor defender eventually goes off wearing a neck brace on a stretcher. 14 mins of added time at the end!!!!!! Also a 3 sided ground + a backwards clock + a pint in an empty Indian restaurant afterwards. Like I say - a strange night. BEFORE - Yes, years ago with Steve O''Riordan to watch a pre season County Cup game v Forest. Can''t remember who won.
