Pre match standings : MK Dons played 6-6th/12 points. Forest Green played 7-9th/11 points. A reasonably easy journey to Milton Keynes today, though my SatNav did take me twenty miles out of my way due to the fact that it hadn''t been changed and didn''t show a recently constructed roundabout. The MK is another stadium/ retail park development so there are plenty of shops and eateries and also a cinema around the immediate area for before and after the match. Though there seem to be plenty of parking, many of the spaces belong to the retail park, which has a time limit, or to the hotel so best choose one of the official football car parks. I paid seven pounds which is a little expensive though I have paid more in the past (I''m looking at you here Ricoh Arena). So far I''ve found the cost of football parking to be between four and ten pounds. The MK is not just a football stadium. It''s a multi purpose building which comprises a Hilton Hotel, a conference centre and a sports/ concert arena. There is also a Marco Pierre White Steakhouse within the site so no expense is spared to attract big business. The exterior of the stadium is primarily constructed of shiny black tiles inlaid with tinted windows which are surrounded by white tiles. Dotted around the outside are ticket offices, the MPW Steakhouse and the spacious club shop. The huge entrance to the Double Tree Hilton Hotel faces the towards to the car park entrance with the MK Dons club crest displayed on towers either side. Externally it really is an impressive structure. Inside is even better. Had the scoreline here and other results gone the right way for either team then MK Dons could go top 3 and FGR could go 4th. Unfortunately no one bothered to tell the two teams this fact and sadly this had to be one of the poorest games, though played in one of the finest stadiums, on my travels so far. The Dons had made a good start to the the season with three wins and three draws prior to this game. The Green Devils were becoming the draw specialists with five draws and two wins from their previous seven. I decided to come to MK on the back of my visit to the County Ground where the Dons played Swindon Town. And a thoroughly entertaining game it was which eventually ended in a 1-1 draw and credit to both teams for that. The atmosphere inside the ground was good too despite the Stratton End being empty (as it is for most games unless the visitors are particularly well supported) with both sets of supporters giving their all. End of Season MK Dons finished 3rd on 79 points and were promoted to League One along with Bury (2nd 79 points) and Champions Lincoln City on 85 points. Into the playoffs go Mansfield Town, Forest Green Rovers, who finished 5th with 74 points, Tranmere Rovers and Newport County. Relegated to the National League are Yeovil Town (24th, 40 points and Notts County (23rd 41 points)
