Went to the game whilst on holiday in York. We had concern whether there was a game on in the first place because of an attack that happened in Barnsley town centre that morning. However, we left at about 12:30 and drove to the ground and parked about 10 mins away in a car park for a shopping centre. Got to the ground at about 14:00 ish and I walked around the ground while Mum, Dad and Joseph went straight to the seats. The game itself was an awful affair with Barnsley unable to string two passes together without giving it away or kicking it out of play and Walsall evidently happy with coming away with a point from the game. Walsall looked the better side when they started to play football rather than sit back and had a couple of decent chances in the first half. It was 0-0 at HT and the second half could not get any worse given how poor the 1st half was. Walsall continued to sit back in the 2nd half and Barnsley took the lead in the 55th minute through a goal that summed up the game perfectly. The ball was played short at a corner before a poor cross was put in the box which forced a good save from the keeper only for it to bounce off the player and creep over the line. Walsall still didn't show much intent on attacking even when they went 1-0 down and Barnsley had their best spell of the game and should've doubled the lead but didn't. Eventually on 80 mins Andy Cook came on for Walsall and they finally looked as if they wanted to get something out of the game. They missed a sitter to equalise from a corner just before Cook scored 2 mins from time to give Walsall a deserved point from the game given the fact that they were solid for much of the game. Left the ground at about 17:10 and walked back to the car. Got back to the holiday house at about 18:30 ish.
