Left home in Chester at about 10:20 feeling rough from the night before. Walked to the station and got the 10:52 train Manchester Oxford Road. Then got the X43 bus to Burnley because the trains were down on the line from Preston to Burnley. The bus left just after 12:00 and it took about 90 mins to get to Burnley bus station which was a 10 mins walk away from the ground. Got to the ground at about 13:40 and watched the 2nd half of the Spurs v Newcastle game in the fan park. Went into the ground at about 14:15 and sat in the Bob Lord Stand at the back right above the dugouts. The game itself wasn''t the greatest for the majority of the game. The first 10 mins were entertaining with both sides coming out of the blocks fast and providing some end to end football which both sides having chances. However, the game died a bit after that and Burnley resorted to route one football. They should''ve had a penalty about 30 mins into the game when Barnes was taken out by McCarthy but the referee booked him for diving. The game was 0-0 at HT. Southampton started the second half as the better side and had a few chances before Redmond gave them the lead about 55 mins into the game after some good dribbling before finishing brilliantly into the bottom corner from outside the box. Not much happened in the game until about 75 mins when Burnley started to go for it and brought Crouch on. They then hammered the goal in an entertaining last 15 mins with Barnes hitting the crossbar and having other chances before they received a penalty in the last minute from handball which Barnes stepped up and made it 1-1. Walked back to the bus station and got the 17:20 bus back to Manchester but got off before the coach station and ran to Oxford Road Station to get the 18:55 train back to Chester. Got back home at about 20:20.
